Every show has good and bad seasons, but only a few shows come back up from a not-so-stellar season. “The Good Wife” is an excellent drama that airs on CBS. It suffered a similar fate last season when it left viewers asking the writers of the show, “What went wrong?” The writers behind the hit show probably knew that something was missing from the storyline, but they made it up to audiences this season.
The season 7 premiere of “The Good Wife” was received well by audiences, and just like that, the show was on the right track, heading towards another monumental success. More importantly, Sundays were great again! The best part about the entire premiere was that there were no signs of special effects trickery.
If you recall the bar scene last season between Kalinda and Alicia, fans suspected that both actresses shot the scene separately and it was put together later in editing. It just did not look like a natural conversation. Many speculated that there was bad blood between the two stars, as that was Kalinda’s last time on screen in The Good Wife.
With supposed feuds taking place behind the scenes and the race to make the storylines more exciting, sometimes, writers get it wrong, and last season was an example of that. However, the riveting premiere has revived the show’s appeal. Before we begin to tell you what changed this season, let’s refresh your memories of where the show left off last season.
In season 6, a scandal tainted Alicia’s political campaign, leaving her embarrassed. Cary and Diane disowned her and Finn left her at the altar. Canning approached her to join his firm when her plans of starting her own firm went down.
This season, Alicia is the underdog, like she was before, but a strong one at that. She has not lost her confidence even though she can’t find a job, as no one wants to hire her because of the scandal. The election scandal hasn’t affected her in the least, as she informs Canning that for the first time, the only person she has to listen to is her.
The writers have gone back to the recipe that made the show a success in the first place. This is the second time since season 1 that Alicia is an underdog, but an interesting and intelligent one to watch. You will see her prove herself by taking on cases and winning them, and this will take her from an underdog to a top dog again. Another highlight of the show was Jane Curtin’s (a presiding judge over the case) commentary of the case, which made viewers realize of the show’s ability to combine comedy with the serious premise of the show.
Viewers can expect all the characters to be in the same room together, as no camera trickery will take the limelight away from this season of “The Good Wife.” Unlike last season, where the writers had isolated her character from the talented supporting cast, you will see her interact with them more this season as well.
“The Good Wife” premiered with a bang – you can expect this season to be full of clever twists and turns so don’t forget to tune in every Sunday.
