Hillary Clinton’s Support Increases after first democratic debate

After the past week’s first Democratic presidential debate, Hillary Clinton experienced a rise in her popularity graph. According tovarious online polls on Monday, support for Hillary Clinton increased by 10 percent after the democratic debate. The no-nonsense demeanor and to the point answers of Hillary Clinton have landed her a huge lead over Bernie Sanders.

The two-top polling Democrats, Clinton and Sanders, arguedon hot-button issues like gun control as they went head-to-head in the debate. However, the two seemed to agree on the email scandal, something that has marred Hillary Clinton’s campaign in the past few months. Sanders voicing his opinion on the email scandal said, “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!” Sanders declared at the debate.

Of the thousand democrats that polled in the online survey, 51% said that they would back Hillary Clinton in 2016 presidential primaries whereas only 27% were willing to back Clinton’s main rival, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. The poll conducted last week showed an increase of 10 percent in Hillary Clinton’s support. The support for Vice President Joe Biden among Democrats stood at 6 percent. This was a decrease of 7 percent from 10 days ago.

Sander’s support of 27% is almost identical to his September number. The Vermont Senator, Bernie sanders was full of zest in September as he saw his support rise steadily throughout the spring and summer. However, the latest results may have been a big disappointment to him as he sees no movement in his support.

Before thefirst Democratic presidential debate, many democrats feared that the controversy involving her use of a private email server could jeopardize her bid to represent the party in the November 2016 election. However, according to political analysts, Clinton’s nimble performance in the first Democratic presidential debate helped calm some of these fears. Hillary Clinton with her showing in the October 13 debate also fired a warning shot at Joe Biden who harbors aspirations of a late presidential run.

Regardless of which candidate they support, thirty-six percent of voters endorsed Clinton’s effectiveness in the debate aired on CNN while 26 percent gave the nod to Bernie Sanders. Democrats found Clinton’s debate win conspicuous as 52% of the 865 Democrats watching the event endorsed her effectiveness in the debate whereas Sanders managed to impress only 29 percent of the voters.

With 51 percent of registered Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, Clinton currently leads the Democratic race. Hillary Clinton’s support in September was 42 percent which is by far her lowest level of support over the past two years. So this increase in support comes as a welcome relief to her.

Sanders will have to fight hard if he harbors aspirations of overtaking Clinton in terms of democratic support.
