Kyle Navin a 27 year old of Connecticut has been charged with the murder of his parents, Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin. The couple had been missing since August 4. Their remains were found on Thursday in a vacant house nearby the town of Weston which is believed to be owned by a friend of Kyle Navin. The owner of the property is the person who called the police.

Kyle Navin was arrested in September by the Federal Bureau of Investigations for possession of a firearm while being addicted to a controlled substance. This controlled substance was heroin. Friday state police stated that Kyle would also be charged with two counts of murder and two counts of murder with special circumstances when his parents’ remains were found. Kyle Navin is being held in a federal prison in Rhode Island on the weapons charge. Eugene Riccio, Navin’s lawyer, expects Kyle to be served with arrest papers from the Connecticut State Police this weekend. Kyle Navin’s bond is set at $2.5 million.

Kyle Navin’s girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante a 31 year old woman, was also arrested on Friday. She is being charged with conspiracy to commit murder and hindering prosecution.   She is being held on a $2 million bond.

The relationship between Kyle and his parents was toxic. Mrs. Navin confided in a friend how her and her husband were worried about Kyle’s drug problem. They were also talking about cutting him out of their will. It is believed that this may have led to the killing of Kyle Navin’s parents.

Through text messages to his girlfriend, Ms. Valiante, it is shown that Kyle was talking about getting rid of his parents and getting their money. Ms. Valiante seemed to be hesitant to go along with Kyle’s plan. One text message from Kyle said, “Wipe out the infection and get $ for life. It’s perfect plan.”

When Kyle was questions about his whereabouts when his parents went missing, his story changed multiple times. First he said he was not around them because of back pain and then he says that he was. Authorities say that his varying stories did not line up with the phone records they retrieved.

There were text messages between Jeffrey Navin and Kyle Navin the day of his disappearance. He asked his son if he hurt his mother and said he was not going home until he knew his wife was alright. He suspected his son was trying to set him up for murder. Kyle’s response to the question was, “No absolutely not. Why would you think that?”

Tracy Dayton, Assistant U.S. Attorney, told federal magistrate William Garfinkel they have evidence that “very strongly suggests he killed his parents.” A search was performed at Kyle Navin’s residence where police found two guns, boxes of ammunition, hypodermic needles, glassine bags that appeared to have residues of heroin, and several empty prescription bottle for Oxycodone. They also believe they have DNA in Kyle’s basement that belongs to Mr. Navin. There was a gunshot hole found in the garbage truck seat that was found in Bridgeport which is believed to contain Mrs. Navin’s DNA.
