And recently, Kim Kardashian’s younger sister Kendall Jenner has been in great demand on the ramp. All the fashion houses and big brands want her to be a part of their fashion shows and display their collection. She has been the most in-demand model for 2015. Though Gisele has retired after a successful career, the possibility of a comeback can never be eliminated. On the other hand, she holds an experience that spans over two decades against Kendall Jenner’s 2 year old career.
Kendall’s growth as a model has been quite phenomenal. On Tuesday, she debuted on one of the most coveted ramps that forms an integral part of a model’s successful career, the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Gisele Bundchen ruled that very runway for seven years. Gisele had signed a $35 million contract for five years with the famous lingerie brand. Considering how extremely careful the brand is while choosing their models, this long-term contract was quite an honor. On the flip side, we are yet to discover how much was Kendall paid and whether she will return to the runway next year or not.
However, when it comes to social media following, Kendall wins the game by a very high margin. The Kardashian step-sister has around 41.1 million fans watching her every move on Instagram. Gisele is very far behind with her 6.7 million followers. Clearly, here the veteran has a long way to go. But the reason Gisele seems low on her Instagram profile because of the lack of siblings like the Kardashians and the Jenners. Also, Kendall’s profile is highly influenced by Kris Jenner, her mom and manager. If you look at the combined figures of the entire family, you realize the growth path on Instagram has been easy. Kim Kardashian has 51.6 million fans, Kylie Jenner has around 42 million, Khloe sits at 35.6 million and Kourtney brings in an additional 28.5 million. All these people, along with Grammy award winning brother-in-law, Kanye West, assure to promote Kendall on their Instagram profiles. Whether she wears a Balmain or is at Victoria Secret runway, they are there to cheer her and applaud for her.
Also, being in Taylor Swift’s squad helps a lot. After all, that makes you stand with the league of ladies that includes Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Selena Gomez, to name a few. But as soon as one talks in terms of money, Gisele reigns supreme. She collected $61.6 million from June 2014 to June 2015, making her the highest paid model. Kendall debuted at the Forbes’ list recently at no. 16. She took $5.6 million for being the face of brands like Estee Lauder, Calvin Klein and Karl Lagerfeld. On its 95th anniversary, the French publication posted picture of four of the most iconic faces of Fashion industry on four separate covers of magazine’s October issue. Kendall being the youngest of the bunch shared the honor with Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss and Christy Turlington.
Kendall definitely has what it takes to become the world’s highest paid model but she has a long way to go.
