Charlie Sheen Confirms He is HIV Positive

Years after speculations, Charlie Sheen finally confirmed in an an interview on Today show that he is indeed HIV positive

Charlie Sheen revealed on Tuesday that he has been tested positive for HIV. The actor made this big revelation in an interview taken by Today’s Matt Lauer. Sharing this story, people witnessed a rather composed and calm Charlie, who was talking about all the ups and downs he has been facing because of his medical condition.

He revealed on the show that he was diagnosed four years ago. He went for the test after unbearable migraine and crushing headaches that tore him. He had woken up all drenched in sweat for two or three nights in a row. Sheen told Matt Lauer that he is here to admit graciously that he is in fact HIV-positive. He wanted to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and very harmful stories about him which had been making rounds in the media.

When he was asked what his first reaction was, he said that after the symptoms, he thought he was suffering from brain tumor. The emotion is understandable. To accept the fact that you tested positive for HIV requires courage and we applaud Sheen for displaying this on national television.

So what made him take this decision and come forward with it on national television? Sheen said that he took the decision after many people, whom he trusted and he cared about, shook him down and threatened him. People extorted millions of dollars out of him and even tried to demean him in a rather hurtful manner. A prostitute took a picture of his antiretroviral medication and tried to sell the same to tabloids. The reactions he got from people were rather hurtful than helping.

When Lauer asked what makes him solicit paid sex even after all this, Sheen responded that he has was drinking way too much and had too many drugs that made him feel depressed all the time. He took all the resorts that could have helped him. Charlie Sheen also said that ever since he was diagnosed with the disease he made sure all of his sex partners were informed. He has had unprotected sex with two people and claims to have informed them well ahead of time. He also said that both the encounters were under strict medical supervision.

The actor also shared that he still does not have a complete idea about how he contracted the disease is in the first place. But he is very sure that he has not transmitted it to anyone else. He has decided to now help people by sharing his story. In fact, he believes that one of the reasons that he is in trouble is because he divulged the information to his sex partners. He believes that they tried to take advantage of this fact. His aim is to not become a poster boy for HIV. But that doesn’t eliminate the fact that he will try his level best to take up responsibilities and opportunities that will drive him to help others. His physician, Dr. Robert Huizenga conformed to the audiences that Charlie Sheen does not have AIDS and is quite healthy as of now.
