Chevy Malibu Hybrid LT coming this spring at a price of $28,645

Chevy Malibu Hybrid

The Chevrolet Malibu hybrid is not necessarily a new car in the auto world; it is basically a redesigned version of the Malibu model. According to TechTimes, “the Malibu model is not new, which is why Chevrolet redesigned it for 2016. The hybrid model will be the first full gas and electric car in its class. To do well, Chevrolet will surely strive to throw more into the market. With the new Malibu hybrid, Chevrolet is promising a better vehicle that has been constructed with fuel economy in mind, more so than the company’s previous attempt.”

Chevrolet announced on Thursday that the 2016 Malibu hybrid will go on sale for a price of $28,645 by spring and would also feature a $875 destination charge, making it about $3,000 more than the Ford Fusion Hybrid and about $2,000 more than the Toyota Camry Hybrid LE. The most spectacular feature of the anticipated 2016 Malibu hybrid is definitely the fuel economy, with speculated capabilities such as 48 miles per gallon city and 45 highway, for a combined rating of 47 mpg. The Malibu hybrid also features an electric motor with 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery which produces 182 combined horsepower, with power stemming from the 1.8 liter gasoline engine. Chevrolet says this is approximately the same system found in the 2016 Volt.

The Malibu has also been geared up with a lot of handy things for comfort and safety like the 7-inch touchscreen, a start push button, cruise control, 10 airbags, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, front pedestrian braking, low speed front automatic brake, teen driver monitor features, and the Chevrolet MyLink radio. It is safe to say that Chevrolet has created an impressive competitor for its rivals Camry and Fusion.

Some additions have been made to the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid LT, 3.6 inches has been added to the wheelbase, and 2.3 inches to the length compared to the earlier versions. The bigger sedan’s weight hasn’t been altered with added weight, but the Malibu Hybrid, however, is expected to be a few pounds lighter, with a weight of 3,124 pounds and a rocking fuel economy as earlier mentioned. As for the performance of the vehicle, a report by SlashGear tells us, “Chevrolet is estimating 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 31mpg combined from the 1.5 litter turbo. The 2.0 liter turbo dips to 22mpg city, 33mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined, while the hybrid is expected to deliver a healthy 48 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway, and 47 mpg combined.”

The Chevrolet Malibu hybrid has been built with consumers in mind, giving them the access not only to minimal fuel usage but also the access to a classic hybrid car not too expensive for those who see it from that perspective. Marketing director of Chevrolet cars, Steve Majoros, commented, “The Malibu leverages knowledge and technology directly from the second generation Chevrolet Volt. By leveraging technology we are broadening our level of expertise and lessons learned to bring consumers a world class hybrid.”
