There is one thing we can all agree with — 2015 has been the best year of Amy Schumer ’s life. Her TV show on Comedy Central, “Inside Amy,” got tremendous reviews, flashy Emmys, and it was just renewed for the another season.
And of course, her movie “Trainwreck” with Bill Hader was released this year, which was adored by fans, and Schumer was nominated for a Golden Globe. However, she lost to her pal Jennifer Lawrence, who won the award for her performance in “Joy.”
It has also been reported that Amy is writing a new comedy with Jennifer Lawrence, where they will play best friends. But there is one talented person behind Schumer’s success who people don’t talk much about much — her little sister Kim Caramele.
Schumer’s pillar: Kim Caramele
Amy likes to refer to her sister as her “road manager,” but that’s not all she is. Kim is a writer/producer on “Inside Amy,” and she also wrote “Trainwreck” along with Amy. Apart from that, she is also helping Amy and Jennifer with the script for their new movie.
Recently, Kim took the stage at Writers Guild Award Television nominee’s panel and spoke her mind, just like her sister. “Amy’s my sister, so I do whatever she does,” she said. Caramele wants to do everything Schumer does, and the feeling certainly seems mutual. Caramele had the room at the Writer’s Guild Awards rolling in laughter when she poked fun at her fellow producer Joe Weisberg on what he’s watching at home. “’French Village’ about some French village during the war,” he explained. “So it’s like a rom-com?” she quipped, adding that one of her personal TV favorites is “Judge Judy.”
The comedian’s social media is flooded with adorable and hilarious photos of the two sisters, and humor clearly runs in their family. Unlike Amy, who doesn’t stop making jokes about her dating life, Caramele is married and has a little daughter who she likes to call “The Duchess.”
Amy Schumer keeps facing backlash
Last week, Schumer was accused by fellow comics Wendy Liebman and Tammy Pescatelli for stealing their jokes, and it’s not the first time she has been accused of that. She was also accused of stealing jokes from her close friend Patrice O’Neal, who died a few days ago.
However, Pescatelli ended up with her tail between her legs and decided to back off on the issue. “I was the last to the party, and I drank the most and I was the loudest,” Pescatelli said in a radio interview. “I probably should’ve just kind of stayed out of it and kept my mouth shut. I shouldn’t have accused somebody.”
Amy decided to stay away from the controversy, and she did not issue any statement about Pascatelli’s accusations. But when websites began talking about her stealing jokes from Patrice, she did go on the record and explain how close she was with Patrice and that she would never do such a thing.
Whether she did or not, the fact is Amy Schumer and Kim Caramele are very talented, and Amy is not going to let any of these things get her down.
