As we stand just hours before the 88th Academy Awards, a lot of things come to mind. Who gets an award and who walks back home with hope for next year? And we strongly hope that this person is not Leonardo DiCaprio. The Oscars this year have been buzzed about with controversy and irony. They chose the amazing Chris Rock to be the host, and then had their share of lashing for being pro-white. They miffed the likes of Idris Elba, Will and Jada-Pinkett Smith, among others. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had its share of discussions and comments. They have been talked about and have faced comments about the lack of diversity. The discussion’s over, and now the big questions remain.
Who takes the Golden Beauty home at Oscars 2016?
The award show begins in a few hours. It will be aired on ABC at 7 p.m. EST. And we all know we’re really waiting for Chris Rock. The man returns to the Oscar stage after more than 10 years. And the monologue this year is going to be a legendary one. On average, the guy is excellent. The guy slays it perfectly, and all his comments are served directly on the plate without any garnishing. He will definitely talk about the YoOscarSoWhite controversy that engulfed the internet. Apart from this, we all are waiting to know how well the predictions fair.
Will Leonardo finally have his wishes fulfilled? Will there be a disappointing evening for him again? The questions are many. Look no further than the performances of Eddie Redmayne in “The Danish Girl” and Sylvester Stallone in “Creed” to see how tough the competition is. The lead actress for “Room,” Brie Larson, and Leonardo DiCaprio for “The Revenant” are the most predicted winners. When it comes to the Best Picture award, people definitely need to hold their breath. All the nominations are pure gems. Though “The Revenant” is highly expected to bag the award, friends and analysts are still discussing their favorites. The movie faces stiff competition from “Spotlight” and “The Big Short.” Also, the lack of nomination for the best screenplay makes “The Revenant” a weaker choice.
Who wears what? More importantly, where can you watch?
The red carpet looks are highly awaited too. The fashion police and media sit ready to analyze the actors. One mistake, and the ranting shall begin. There are sure to be red carpet shenanigans, as the hosts there will be ready to embarrass the stars. The mockery and the fun will soon begin. The opening ceremony and the main show will be telecasted on ABC from 7:00 p.m. You can also watch it live online on the ABC app. The show will end around 11:30 p.m.
The main event will be followed by “Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars.” The show starts late at night post the main event and will be another event for everyone to look forward to. Kimmel will be joined by his friend Ben Affleck. Joining the duo would be Tracy Morgan, J.K. Simmons, Mike Tyson, Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Henry Cavill, and Jesse Eisenberg. Matt Damon might also join the show post-Oscars.
