Tesla’s CEO calls Apple’s car an ‘open secret’

Speculations have been going on about Apple’s plan to launch its own electric car brand, and many have been left wondering if this speculation holds any truth. However, Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk is not a part of the wondering bunch, as he told BBC that it is an “open secret.”According to Elon, an electric vehicle will be produced by the Cupertino i-Product company and aimed at rivalling his own productions. Tesla’s CEO went further to explain to BBC that “it’s pretty hard to hide over a thousand engineers to do it.”

Musk does not seem to be bothered by these plans, as he added, “Bring it on.”

Tesla is known for their incredible electric cars, and even though CEO Elon Musk said on Monday at the British media outlet that Apple’s electric car plans, if executed, “will expand the industry,” he is still fully confident that Tesla would continue to produce the best. According to Musk, “Tesla will still aspire to make the most compelling electric vehicles, and that would be our goal, while at the same time helping other companies to make electric cars as well.”

Apple has not attended to these speculations yet. Whenever a question is directed to the company about its interest in the automobile realm, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook keeps tossing the questions aside. There have been proofs hinting at Apple’s interest in the automobile niche, as recently the company registered domain names that had automobile terms associated with them. Like apple.car and apple. auto. According to reports, the company has been in touch with a former military facility located in eastern San Francisco which could serve as the perfect testing ground for a car.

Electric cars are currently rocking the automobile industry, and many car makers are hopping on the train every day, with BMW leading the pack with their compact i3 and racy i8 models. The “Leaf” is the best electric brand from carmaker Nissan, while General Motors recently revealed to the world their new model, the Chevy Bolt, seen at the Consumer Electronics Show that was held in Las Vegas. The Chevy Bolt is a compact, four-door vehicle that will be produced later this year. The vehicle boasts of a 200-mile battery range and will go for a $30,000 “after-federal-rebates price.”

Musk, in the course of the interview, made mention of the fact that the company would not stop adding unique features to its productions with “over-the-air software downloads” which includes the ability for a car to be summoned by its owners remotely. Tesla, last fall started working on an Autopilot function that enables a car to man the steering wheel while on the road and also possess the ability to change lanes and avoid danger on its own at the sight of a blinker.

Apple may have had plans in the past to explore the automobile industry, but that was limited due to the company placing all of its focus on its iPhone, the main product of Apple. Apple was focused on syncing its iPhone device via CarPlay to in-car infotainment systems.
