Anthony Baxter’s “You’ve Been Trumped” Gets a Re-Release

Anthony BaxterRepublican front runner, Donald Trump, has been in the limelight over the last few months due to his brash, provocative, and outspoken views on just about everything – migrants, Muslims, and especially Megyn Kelly. Even during the last Democratic presidential debate, Trump remained an unavoidable part of the ongoing election saga.

His strong media presence during the 2016 presidential campaign, along with the announcement that he will host Saturday Night Live next month goes to show that he will be part of the media attention for quite some time.

Recognizing this trend and with the opportunity to potentially make huge money, Emerging Pictures has decided to re-release its 2012 documentary on Trump – “You’ve Been Trumped”. The documentary depicts Trump’s bitter clash with a Scottish coastal community that was opposed to Trump’s vision of turning a nearby environmentally sensitive area into a golf resort.

Directed by British filmmaker Anthony Baxter, the documentary describes in detail the plans for the construction of a golf resort by developer Donald Trump in 2005 on a beach in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The documentary details the subsequent struggles of the Head of ‘The Trump Organization’ in convincing Scottish authorities to grant construction of the luxury resort.

The construction of the resort sparked controversy as it was to be located on the Menie Estate’s dunes, a beautiful natural habitat and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Internet Movie Database has ranked ‘You’ve Been Trumped’ as the highest rated British film of all time, giving it a score of 7.6/10.

Shortly after the announcement of the release of the documentary on British television channel BBC Two, Trump’s lawyers contacted the BBC to demand that the film should not be premiered on its channel claiming that it is ‘misleading’ and ‘defamatory’.

BBC went ahead with the screening of the documentary defending its position by stating that Trump had continuously turned down the request for an interview related to the film.

Ryan MarkowitzAnthony Baxter said in an interview in 2012 with Entertainment Weekly that the media was too soft on Trump. “I just felt that these are the questions which needed to be asked. I got depressed when I heard the press asking Trump questions like, ‘Is the golf course turning out better than you had hoped, Mr. Trump?’” Baxter said.

The director of the documentary on Trump said that he felt depressed knowing that people with power and money were getting their way – and that the journalists had the responsibility of holding such people accountable for their deeds.

Emerging Pictures’ VP, Ryan Markowitz, stated that whether you like it or not, Trump is everywhere at the moment. The documentary will give greater insight into one of his projects and the way it was carried out, which is even more important considering that he touts his business credentials as the foundation of his 2016 presidential bid.

‘You’ve Been Trumped’ is powered by social media. People can visit wannawatch.it/trumped and request screening of the film in their local theaters. The documentary is also being streamed on Hulu.
