As early as November 9th, UK-based fans of the Motorola Droid Turbo2 will be able to get their hands on the smartphone, although it will be under a different moniker—Moto X Force. Consumers will be able to preorder the unlocked version of the smartphone in the UK for £497.99. Known as the world’s first shatterproof display phone, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 was recently re-branded globally as the Moto X Force. Last week, it was released in the U.S. Now, the 5.4 inch handset is making its way to the Asian and European markets.
If you are wondering what the damage will be, we can provide the details. Purchasing the SIM-free Moto X Force from the retailer Handtec will cost a consumer £497.99, or approximately $768. This price includes taxes, and it is for the 32GB version of the smartphone in black. Handtec provides an expected delivery date Nov. 9. To preorder the Moto X Force from Handtec, potential buyers must visit the retailer’s website.
Alternatively, consumers can head to the retailer Carphone Warehouse. They are offering the SIM-free Moto X Force for £529.99, which is approximately $817. In comparison to Handtec’s deal, this one is slightly more expensive. The preorders for the smartphone in its black variant are open. The expected delivery date is Nov.10. Car phone Warehouse also offers monthly plans for the smartphone. These begin at £37.50 or $57.82 per month.
The Moto X Force features the same specifications as the Verizon-exclusive Droid Turbo 2. The smartphone features a 5.4-inch Quad HD display. It comes with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Motorola has claimed that the phone’s screen is shatter-proof as well as crack-proof for at least up to four years. Drop tests conducted have proved the smart phone’s sturdiness and its ability to survive accidents.
The handset has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor as well as 3GB of RAM. The Moto X Force also boasts a 21MP rear-facing camera which has 4K recording capabilities as well as a 5MP selfie camera. The phone also has a 3760 mAh battery and 32GB of on-board memory inclusive of microSD support. The 3760 mAH battery promises users up to 48 hours of battery life, according to Motorola, and it can be charged up to 13 hours in 15minutesusing its special charging cable. There are a variety of backing options, including leather and ballistic nylon.
The smartphone also comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. It is expected to be updated to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, although a formal “soaktest” has yet to start, according to David Schuster, who is Motorola’s senior director for software product management. For those who are unfamiliar with this term, a soak test is basically a short testing period in which an Android update is tested out on a small number of devices. In this way, performance and stability can be examined prior to a full rollout of the update. A smaller trial has been conducted though, and the full soak test will follow shortly.
