 Ford integrates Siri eyes

Ford has made an upgrade to all sync-enabled cars dating back to 2011, providing them with the Siri Eyes-Free update. This update is available to users of an iPhone and a Ford car, users can simply sync the Siri Eyes-Free on their iPhones to their Ford through the Ford Sync software found in the car for making phone calls, music, and navigation using swift, enjoyable and hands-free, as Siri Eyes-Free functions by voice commands.

Siri (Speech interpretation and recognition interface) is part of Apple’s iOS that serves as a virtual assistant and knowledge bearer. With the help of Siri, requests are made, answers are given, and actions are performed to your basic needs or schedule. With this new integration into Ford, older cars users can enjoy blissful road adventures. Users would have to download a sync update via USB key or get it through a certified dealer; this update is meant specifically for the Ford sync version 2 found in the 2015 and 2016 models.

The Eyes-Free performs a lot of extensive task in a slight succession. Music can easily be played by either selecting it from the phone to dashboard interface or simply giving a word command that is recognizable by Siri. Alarms and reminders could be set in place to keep track of your day using the Eyes-Free. Calls vanbe made by simply giving a recognizable speech command. Send and receive voice messages by saying the words “audibly” while Siri gets it down. Likewise, messages received are read to you by Siri. Easily navigate the roads and never get lost with the Apple Maps found in the Eyes-Free.

Ford Sync was introduced in 2007 and has passed through several stages of development, producing three versions so far including the Siri Eyes-Free, which is a voice enabled digital assistant associated with Apple’s iPhones. The Siri Eyes-Free update was announced on Thursday. Ford made it known that the software update is in stock for over 5 million sync-enabled cars, however, a lot of Ford users are anticipating the Apple’s CarPlay, which boasts a more advanced, higher tech system that provides onscreen maps, touch control, and a built-in media center. The availability of the Apple CarPlay is yet to be determined.

The Siri Eyes-Free is part of Ford’s SYNC 3. SYNC 3 is what integrates Siri Eyes-Free with your vehicle so you could focus on the road and not worry about looking at your iPhone. The Siri Eyes-Free is activated by pressing a voice recognition button found on the steering wheel and holding it down for about two seconds. After that, a beep goes off, and you are expected to talk to Siri the virtual assistant in a normal way. Siri would only work on phones that are compact-able with the SYNC 3, as this is what controls the entire process of the Eyes-Free.

Ford is continuing to make good recommendable efforts that wouldn’t just stop at the Siri Eyes-Free. Users can expect better updates in the future. “Sync, Ford’s entertainment and communications system, was designed to be flexible and update-able, just like other mobile technologies, so our customers are able to get the most out of their smartphones while behind the wheel,” director of Ford electronics and Electrical Systems Engineering, Sherif Marakby, commented in a press release.
