Energica unveils the Eva electric street fighter

Energica

The vehicle manufacturing company founded a year ago in Modena, Italy has introduced a new electric motorcycle to the world: the Eva electric street fighter, the second in line after the Ego superbike. The Eva electric street fighter stands out as the more authentic street fighter vehicle.

The prototype of the Eva was revealed last year at the Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA) in a superbike bare form. The Eva street fighter was at first revealed to be on the same level performance as the Ego, but Energica brought up a final production model featuring a lower spec than that of the Ego at this year’s Milan Motorcycle show (EICMA).

Constantly referred to as the “naked brother to the Ego,” here are some features of the new Energica Eva electric street fighter. The Eva has an oil cooled permanent magnet AC which produces up to 95hp (71kw) of power and 170Nm of torque which can be compare to the 136hp and 195Nm found respectively in a superbike. The Eva transfers power to the back wheel via a single speed transmission and a final chain drive, the speed is, however, limited with the Eva possessing a top speed limited to 200km/h, not technically a downside as this is more than sufficient for a motorcycle with zero aerodynamic protection for the rider.

The Eva’s motor is powered by an 11.7kWh battery with an estimated life span of over 1,200 charge cycles. The electric motorcycle can easily be charged and recharged in 4hours at a standard power voltage; the Eva is also equipped with a battle ready charge system that is fast enough to replenish the battery at 80 percent in just 30 minutes or less if plugged in a power outlet producing over 60 amps. Eva allows four separate riding modes (Eco, Urban, Rain and Sport),and also four mappings for the continuous brake function (Low, Medium, High, and Off). Eva has a maximum range which can only be achieved in the Eco mode; an engine mode which goes on 200km/h is available in Sports mode.

The Eva electric street fighter possesses most of the qualities present in the running gear of the Ego superbike, like the steel tubular trellis frame, the cast aluminium swing arm, the Brembo brakes and the adjustable Bitubo rear shock which are all found in the Ego. There is, however, one slight exception Energica made to the Eva, which is the 43mm inverted Ohlin’s, which was initially revealed at the Milan Motorcycle show as the Marzoochi forks present in the Ego.

The price for the Eva electric street fighter has not yet been finalized. However, we can only assume that the Eva would cost a little less than the Ego, due to the slight engine difference between the two. According to Energica “the Eva electric street fighter will be available for sale in 2016” and also available in two colors, dark blue and green.

Energica Motor Company has its official dealer’s network in the United States of America and also in Europe.
