The ex-SNP leader has supported the idea of banning the US presidential candidate from entering UK amid his anti-Muslim remarks.
MPs are set to debate a petition on Monday which will stress on taking strong action against Donald Trump for his remarks about banning Muslims from entering the United States on counter-terrorism grounds. He has received a lot of backlash from all societies of UK with a petition urging the government to ban Mr. Trump from entering UK altogether.
Jeremy Corbyn of the Labour party however, wants Donald Trump to come to UK and see how the Muslims have been contributing in the development of the United Kingdom. Donald Trump has been criticized widely for his anti-Muslim sentiments and his further claim that many parts of UK including London have become no-go areas for the police. He said that these areas have been so much radicalized that even Police is afraid to step foot in those areas.
However, this backlash has not stopped Donald Trump from gaining popularity in the race to become the next Republican candidate for the upcoming Presidential elections in the United States. The election will take place in November and Trump is still leading several opinion polls ahead of other Republican candidates.
Donald Trump has threatened to block his investment in UK if he is denied entrance to the country. He owns the Turnberry golf course among other assets in Scotland and has warned that he will cancel his planned investment worth 700 Pounds in the UK if the petition to ban him from UK goes ahead.
Mr. Salmond however, is adamant that Donald Trump should be banned from entering UK. Salmond was once very close to Donald Trump but has been in a war of words with the American Tycoon in recent months. He is of the view that everyone should be treated equally and Trump’s remarks should be taken into same category as the remarks of hundreds of people out there. He urged the Home Secretary to evaluate Trump’s position like that and added that he is in favor of banning Donald Trump.
“What should happen is that the home secretary should consider Donald Trump’s remarks in the same way as she consider the remarks of hundreds of other people and she should do it with exactly the same criteria.”
He said that banning Trump would do him good and will show him what people really think about him. Salmond further said that if Trump wants to ban all Muslims from the US, the he wants to ban all people having Trump like mentality from entering the United Kingdom.
“My view is that, yes, I would probably ban “The Donald” because it would do him some good. He wants to ban all Muslims from the US. I want to ban all Donald Trumps from Scotland.”
Prime Minister David Cameroon is against the idea of banning Donald Trump from UK despite the fact that more than 573,000 have signed the petition.
