Louisiana Has the Most Extreme High School Sports Class Chaos
Some state high school associations have separated private and public teams in the postseason — or tried to, anyway — as they wrestle with the same, powerful private (or “select,” to reflect charters) schools winning titles (particularly in football) most every year, which is getting public school noses out of joint and, perhaps, a factor in attendance at state championships going down.

25 Years Removed, Duke UNLV Clash Resulted in Careers Unfulfilled
When Duke met UNLV in the National Semi-Finals at the 1991 Final Four there were countless storylines highlighted by UNLV attempting to complete a historic undefeated season and Duke looking to enact revenge after being blown out by the Runnin Rebels in the National title game the year prior. As this game featured high level talent on both sides the anticipation between the contrasting styles, schools and personas was as great as any game in recent history during that era and it did indeed deliver. Duke’s “miraculous” victory when you think back on it really wasn’t that miraculous considering the body of the work this group would continue to assemble at the college level between the likes of Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill and of course Coach K. In no way am I saying that UNLV was overrated or undeserving of the hype they had received, but I don’t think most realized at the time just how good Duke had become. As Laettner, Hurley, Hill and company found a way to take down Larry Johnson, Stacy Augmon, Anderson Hunt and Greg Anthony the last thing anyone likely thought is that this talented group of players would ultimately look back on pro-careers unfulfilled and in some cases potentially hall-of-fame careers tragically cut short due to injury. The fact that between the seven collegiate stars who played in that game (sorry Thomas Hill, you very good, but not a star player) only three players, Johnson, Hill and Laettner ever played in an NBA all-star game and only two players, Johnson and Anthony ever participated in the NBA finals. Are All-Star appearances and the journey to the NBA Finals easy feats as pros? Of course not. But it’s tough to argue that more wasn’t expected in terms of success for this group in the NBA.

UNC v. Syracuse is the Game we All Deserve!
As I sit here like millions of people waiting for the Final Four to tip off, I, like many, am pondering the irony of tonight’s Syracuse-North Carolina game and the underlying academic scandals associated with both programs.
