Everything you need to know about MTV EMAs 2015

MTV EMAs 2015 were hosted by Ed Sheeren and Ruby Rose with performances from Justin Bieber and Tori Kelly

And the stage was all set for the much awaited MTV European Music Awards. This year the awards were hosted by ‘Orange Is The New Black’s star Ruby Rose along with ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer Ed Sheeran (as if the guy needed an introduction). The award show had its own set of highlights, a few witty moments and a lot more to honor the evening. A drunk Ed Sheeran to roll it deep with his mid school dick jokes and Ruby Rose with her sheer beautiful presence kept the stage ablaze. It’s not every day you get to hear an award show open with “Ladies and Gentleman and everyone in between”. Ruby Rose’s awesomeness quotient definitely hit a new benchmark and stayed there for most of the night.

Rose’s twin steals the show:

Yes you read it right, heard it right and for those who watched, witnessed it too. His highness and low pants, Justin Bieber owned the night, taking home a total of five awards. He now is the winner of the most number of EMAs, eighteen to be precise. In addition to that, he backed the winning spree with a laser induced performance of “What Do You Mean?”. And he didn’t even cry after the performance like he did during MTV VMAs this year.

Performances that rocked MTV EMAs 2015:

Tori Kelly owned the stage with “Should’ve been Us” and her band behind her was obscured by a CD curtain. Her delightful performance were continued by some stunning covers including TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Fugees’ “Ready or Not”. But the best part of the performance had to be the jaw-dropping duet with Andrea Boceeli. Though totally sloshed and smashed on-stage with Gin and Tonic, Ed Sheeran’s performance was as smooth as his singing gets. The co-host of the show also went away with two awards in ‘best live act’ and ‘best world stage’ category.

Acts that failed to impress:

Twenty One Pilots, the alternative band in Europe performed some of their famous hits but failed to blow away their audience. Their performance was lousy and boring and killed the stage the way audience did not like.

After Nicki Minaj’s showdown with Miley Cyrus in the VMAs, this acceptance speech by her failed to entertain the audience, even with the animated Popsicle. “What’s good?”

The winners:

Pop star Taylor Swift won award for one category in spite of being nominated in over nine categories. The awards were given by some really unrelated people including Italian Model Bianca Balti and tennis ace Novak Djokovic. The minus Zayn Malik, One Direction won the award for the best pop group and ‘Coldplay’ won the award in the ‘Best Rock’ category. Oddly, in spite of all the haters whining around and him dressed weirdly in all red, Justin Bieber won the award for the ‘Biggest Fans’ and ‘Best Look’. Also, the beautiful Lana Del Rey won the award for the ‘Best Alternative’.

There is no denying that MTV EMAs 2015 were more about Justine Bieber coming back to his music roots, than anything else.
