YouTube Music App all set to rule over other streaming services

YouTube has announced that it will be coming up with its own music streaming app, YouTube Music

YouTube has announced that it will be developing a new music streaming app—as if we needed another. There’s already Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and Amazon Prime, but when YouTube announces that it will come up with its own music app, you can expect the crowds to go crazy over it.

YouTube is not only one of the most sought-after video sites for music, but it is extremely reliable too. Have you ever heard of an artist who decided to withdraw his music from YouTube? The reason behind this is extremely precise; YouTube is the easiest way to reach 1 billion users at once. Comparing the statistics to Spotify’s 75 million and Apple Music’s 15 million, we have a clear winner already.

Another main reason for YouTube’s success is—it’s addictive! It’s more than just listening to music. When you are on YouTube, you engage and watch further, like, share, and comment. People respond to music videos, upload covers and remixes, and even do parody videos.

So now, the company plans to take this massive corpus and add some new attributes and features to it. With these neat additions, they can easily open up an application that focuses entirely on music. The app has been named YouTube Music and is the first official standalone app by the company. The head of music products for YouTube, T. Jay Fowler, said that it’s all about high rewards and low-effort experiences. The music app will be launched for both Android and iOS in United States from the very first day.

Before building up the application, YouTube launched Music Key. It was a beta music subscription service and was only available to heavy music listeners identified by YouTube. Everything utilized by this service was used in developing the new YouTube Music App.

The interface of YouTube music will be as personalized as possible. There will be a home screen, which will have three elements, including “My Station” and two other genre stations which will come up automatically on the basis of the user’s listening patterns.

By understanding your music taste, the app will be able to provide you with an endless number of songs based on your taste. As soon as you press play, the app will display two tabs—one that says “Playing Now” and another that says “Explore.” When you hit Explore, you will enter a new multitude of songs related to your search, just like how the Explore option on YouTube videos works.

To top it all, there is also an amazing feature called the offline mixtape. All you have to do is decide how much of your phone’s data you are willing to spare and the quality of songs you want, and the app will make a personalized playlist which will be refreshed daily. This is an added feature for the YouTube Red Subscribers.

The point to note here is that music artists have always been more inclined towards YouTube. While Adele will not even be launching her new album 25 on Spotify, Drake wasn’t able to get the first spot on the Billboards because he signed a deal with Apple music. It will definitely be interesting to see where other music streaming services stand when YouTube Music app finally comes into picture.
