Lily Collins Finally Reveals the Gossip Girl Role She Auditioned For and “Wanted So Badly”
A couple years ago, Lily Collins revealed that she auditioned for a role on the mega-popular CW series, Gossip Girl, but didn’t get the role. Well, now, she’s finally opening up about what that role was, and why it meant so much to her. “I remember the screen-test for Gossip Girl was on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank,” Collins tells Glamour of her first TV studio screen-test experience. “I was about 17 or 18-years-old at the time. I remember driving onto the lot and going, ‘Oh my God. This is surreal.'” So surreal in fact, that Collins ended up documenting her first big studio audition with photos and everything. “It was one of those OMG moments,” she laughs. “Whether or not I got it, I knew I could say I screen-tested on the lot, and one day I want to work at one of these [studios].” So what was the role, which has gone unnamed until now? Turns out it was for the character of Jennifer Tallulah “Jenny” Humphrey, which eventually went to actress Taylor Momsen. “I wanted it so badly,” reminisces Collins. And even though she didn’t end up getting to work on the famed Warner Bros. lot, where such shows as Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Full House, and more have taped, things seemed to have worked out just fine for the actress. “Everything happens for a reason,” says Collins, who went on to get her big break a couple years later in 2009’s The Blind Side (she played Sandra Bullock’s daughter in the film), followed by films like Mirror Mirror, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Love, Rosie, and more.

When it comes to the gender wage gap, we’re all familiar with one number: 79. That’s the average amount—in cents—women earn to the man’s dollar. But it turns out there’s another number to which we should all be paying attention, and that’s 32—the age at which the gender wage gap begins to really widen, according to a new report.

Is It Really True That Disney Princesses Are Hurting Your Daughter’s Self-Image?
To say that Disney and, specifically, Disney princesses are deeply-entrenched in U.S. pop culture is, quite possibly, the understatement of the year. Be it Ariel, Jasmine, Elsa, Pocahontas, Mulan, or Cinderella, everyone has a favorite princess whose likenesses adorned their favorite childhood backpacks, beach towels, and toy bins. Though most of us have fond memories of the Disney squad, new research from Brigham Young University has cast a black cloud on these childhood favorites: A recently published study suggests that engaging with Disney princess culture could perpetuate gender stereotypes and make children more susceptible to them.

“I Know What It’s Like to See a Gun Pointed at You and Wonder If You Are Going to Live”: Rep. Debbie Dingell Makes an Emotional Plea for Gun Control Legislation
For well over 24 hours, House Democrats staged a historic sit-in to force a vote on gun control legislation. Starting late Wednesday morning, dozens of representatives joined Georgia congressman John Lewis to protest the ongoing inaction within the legislative body to pass commonsense gun laws. Though the House GOP quickly made themselves scarce, the demonstration continued late into the night, with sleeping bags, pillows, and even Dunkin Donuts care of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) being delivered to keep the efforts going well into the early morning. Though House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) cut the C-SPAN live feed to the chamber, representatives took it upon themselves to livestream the sit-in via Periscope and continue sharing stories about how gun violence has affected their lives, their families, and the general American public. One of the most moving personal accounts came from Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI), whose own childhood was marred by domestic violence.

Watch: This Teen’s Beyoncé “Formation”-Inspired Prom Entrance Is INSANE
Some people take prom pretty seriously, but we can say with 100 percent certainty that nobody in the history of prom has ever made a better entrance than this girl. Here’s what went down: Before walking out—to a large audience of fans, might we add—two of her friends emerged and performed the exact choreography from Beyoncé’s “Formation” video. Then, in the midst of “I slay, I slay, I slay,” the (hopefully) Prom Queen appeared from the front door in a yellow gown, taking a fierce pose and a hair toss as the sea of cameras snapped away.
