Kanye West’s Progess Report as he releases “Real Friends”

If there is a Kardashian and there is a West, there is a high chance that things are going to be different. Mainstream is not something they do. Kim Kardashian earlier confirmed that Kanye West has relaunched his G.O.O.D. Fridays series in a new incarnation called Every Friday. These releases will be a part of Kanye’s long awaited new LP, Swish.

On New Year’s Eve, Kanye released his minimalist new song ‘Facts’. His contrarian piece was praised by his fans and critics, the song had interesting lyrics and some major puns. From mocking Nike to take a gibe on Bill Cosby, Kanye did everything that defines Kanye West. The song was more like a teaser and was released to reset expectations.

Kanye West is all set to drop more singles after "Facts" and we are hoping they will be filled with even more shade

Kanye West looks inspired and motivated in the song

Now it is time to get ready for the arrival of “Real Friends” and along with it we will have the attached snippet of “No More Parties in LA”. The song is different and the listeners will surely agree to that. “Real Friends” breaks the familiar routine and concept of “Facts”. It also surpasses the awesomeness of Kanye’s last collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, “Fade”, that was released in 2015.

“Facts” can be termed as one the best works by Kanye.  Apart from this, everyone also knows about Kanye’s penchant for ghostwriters and a stacked production lineup. The beats for “Facts” were made by Frank Dukes, Boi 1da, Sevn Thomas and Mobb Deep’s Havoc. Mobb Deep’s Havoc was also responsible for the drums of the song. In spite of all this, there is an extremely convincing emotional authenticity to Kanye West’s song of alienation.

The beauty in the randomness of “Real Friends”

There are various factors that make this song quite compelling. The ambiguity of the song makes it attractive for the listeners. The song is strong on emotions and the audience feels connected to the song. The lyrics depict the dilemma that Kanye goes through after his journey to fame. The song tells how he feels detached from the people his success has left behind and what he feels about the people who try to make their bills his problem and the people who try to extort him. The song beautifully engulfs complex human emotions and its responses to the fragile bond of friendship. The song has a tinge of bitterness to it but that is with every Kanye song till date. But what allures the listener more is the way the song encapsulates the sadness of broken ties and lost friendships. The song deeply talks about absence of relationships and the voids they create.

Ty Dolla $ign brings the X-Factor to the song “Real friends”. The track is exact opposite of his track “Time” in essence. While the latter was all about loyalty, “Real friends” is all about the absence of it. The song has various inspirations but good lyrics and music completely make the listening session worthwhile. The snippet included at the end of the song called “No More Parties in L. A.” is produced by Madlib and features Kendrick Lamar. To conclude, G.O.O.D. Fridays, Season 2 has quite a fantastic start.
